Le Petit Four

I felt like a petit four today.
Perhaps it was the candy colored combination of pink and mint I was wearing.
Perhaps I was just hungry, having a hankering for something sweet and lovely.
I love food way too much and I will never shake my vice for sugary confections.
So all and all petit fours were the inspiration for my outfit today.
After all, it always comes down to food, doesn't it?

As my dear hubby was snapping a picture of me, a lady in her minivan came barreling around the corner, out of nowhere, not paying any attention to us mere little pedestrians. I screamed, "CAR!" and we both made a mad dash for it. Grant it, this was not a busy area that we were taking pics at - we were in an empty school parking lot. As she zoomed by we were shot the hairy eyeball. Watch it minivan lady!!! What nerve! (I thought) Who would have thunk picture taking could be so dangerous? Hmm, taken out by a minivan...now that's a way to go. Anyways - this is the accidental photo from that very moment.

Have a safe and happy Monday!

Crystal Village

I'm here, I'm here...I swear I'm here.
It's been a week since my last post. (Slap on hand) Shame on me.
However, the last five days found me stuck in bed with the ugly old flu. Eek!

After endless hours underneath the covers I can gladly say I am now up and at 'em and back to my old shenanigans. Lucky for me, the snow fairy came last night and granted me one more day at home along with tons of crystal as far as the eye could see.

Though I was only outside for a span of five minutes, I can thank my Taylor House "Chloe" Cowl made by none other than the darling Chaucee of Streets and Stripes, for keeping me nice and toasty.

Speaking of Chaucee, she was ever so sweet to feature/interview me for her blog, Streets and Stripes, while she is currently getting settled in Israel where she will be studying this semester. You can check it out here.
I seriously felt so honored as she is one of my nearest and dearest blogger friends.

She Supposes Her Toeses are Roses

Yay for Friday!
I don't have much to say today except for that.
It's been a long week and I am so thrilled (and relieved) that the weekend has arrived.

Dear Weekend,
I greet you with open arms and love you oh so dearly.

I have a habit of wearing this dress a lot (at least once a week) because it's so very comfy and I'm a sucker for lacy looking things. Sometimes I really remix it to look quite different from one way to the next. Other times, not so much:

My little sis has an awesome knack for finding cool little accessories. She bought me this flower pin (hair clip), my tights, and leg warmers for Christmas. Thanks sister bear!

Bread Pudding and Borrowed Treasures

Mmm...Sunday afternoons, such a lovely time during the week.
Traditionally, Sunday afternoons consist of gathering at my parents house following church to enjoy some of the most scrumptious dinners I have ever tasted...courtesy of my beautiful mother.
(Thanks Mom for making this such a wonderful and delicious time for our family.)

So that it was, once again we gathered yesterday afternoon and feasted on yummy Mexican cuisine (my mom makes the best black bean soup) and relished one another's company laughing, loving, and dreaming up our next family vacation (as always)... thanks to my dad.

Vanilla Frosting

Last weekend we had our first substantial snow of the winter season. As much as I loathe the cold, I do love the beautiful snow and how everything in nature looks so perfectly frosted. I also love two hour delays and cozying up in bed with tons of blankets and a piping hot mug of coffee.

Queen of the Castle

Long day at work, enough said. I was compelled to find the nearest playground and run around like a wild banshee to blow off some steam. It was fun. It was what I needed. Al and I climbed, crossed bridges, slid, hopped mushrooms, and even played some musical instruments. We met some colorful friends along the way. Oh and did I mention that there was ice cream...yup, ice cream. It was our world and I was queen...queen of the playground, that is.

Pond of Glass

I will be the first to admit, I am not a winter person. I am a complete wuss in the cold. I can't understand how people find it to be a comfortable climate. I wish I did, but Mr. Frost is just not my friend. I much prefer warm sunshine any day. As you can tell in many of these photos I am gritting my teeth as I chattered in the cold this day at the park. Brrrr. Haha. Oh the things we do for our blog pics.

However, the one thing I absolutely love is the stunning blanket of ice that covered the pond on this frosty day.

Cheers to a New Year

Happy New Year Darlings!

I hope you all had a lovely time celebrating and ringing in 2011. Mine was quite low key, but perfect indeed as I spent it in Philly with family, stuffing my face with lots of goodies and having a weekend long Mad Men marathon. This might sound lame I suppose, but because I am full speed ahead on a daily basis, sometimes when I am away I just love relaxing and doing nothing. I will not lie, I spent the whole time in Philly in lounge clothes and enjoyed every last second of it.

Now back to the daily grind. Grrr. Though I will say that I do have some exciting things up my sleeve in the months ahead. Until then, I wish you the very best as we enter 2011.
